Measures of Success

Since 2013, our investees have begun to see improvements in school climate, suspension rates, attendance, and academic attainment.

Bridgeport Public Schools

During the 2016-17 school year, Bridgeport Public Schools saw a decrease of 6% in out-of-school suspensions from the previous school year; 2016-17 was also the first year in-school suspension rates declined since 2013-14. Since then, the school district has continued to see a steady decrease in suspensions.

New Beginnings Family Academy

Since 2017, the year the school began to implement their progressive education model with Emotionally Responsive Practice, New Beginnings Family Academy has seen and sustained a dramatic decrease in their suspension rate.

Plus, our social workers have more time for true social work versus constantly responding to crises.

Our SEL efforts have changed our school communities one student, one teacher, and one family at a time. This year in particular, the family engagement component has allowed our SEL efforts to permeate the home of our students and their lives outside of the school environment.
